DIVEYEVO (Nizhny Novgorod Region), August 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government plans to allocate 127 billion rubles ($5.42 billion) to a federal program dedicated to the next generation of nuclear energy technology.

"Financing will start from 2010, and will be about 25 billion rubles [$1.07 billion] annually," Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of the Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom said on Friday.

He said that the program, which will run to 2015, had been agreed on and prepared in all the relevant governmental ministries and departments,

"It should be approved by the government in November," Kiriyenko said.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said earlier the federal program should be aimed at resolving closed nuclear fuel cycle difficulties and creating a commercial fast neutron reactor.

About 1 trillion rubles ($42.7 billion) is to be allocated from the state budget to nuclear power and industry development until 2015.
