WARSAW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russian and South Ossetian police have detained a Polish television crew together with a Georgian national near the capital Tskhinvali, a Polish television channel said on Monday.

The TVP channel reported that soldiers and police seized film equipment, including cameras and mobile phones, from two Polish journalists, which were in the film crew's vehicle, and took the journalists and their Georgian driver to an unknown destination.

Russian military officials have so far made no official comments on the report.

The TVP channel said the detainees were being considered "prisoners of war."

Meanwhile, Irina Gagloyeva, the head of the South Ossetian Information and Press Committee, said that the Polish journalists were drunk when detained, adding they would be released as soon as they sober up.

"A film crew comprising three people has been detained by Defense Ministry servicemen," she said. "The Poles were so drunk they could not explain how they entered South Ossetia from Georgia."

She added that the journalists were not accredited and after sobering up they would be taken to the Georgian border, from where they could make their way to Tbilisi.
