KRASNOYARSK, September 24 (RIA Novosti) - The number of boys at a military school in East Siberia's Krasnoyarsk Territory who have been diagnosed with a stomach bug has risen to 47, the region's healthcare department said Wednesday.
The ages of those infected range between 10 and 16.
The outbreak occurred on September 19 at the Norilsk Cadets Corpus in the city of Minusinsk. The exact type of infection and its source is currently being established, but is believed to have been caused by food consumed after its use-by date.
"During a medical examination, 18 cases of acute intestinal infection were detected," a healthcare department spokesperson told RIA Novosti, adding that the number is likely to rise as checks continue.
