MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that four people, including three Russian nationals, were killed after an African Union-UN peacekeeping mission (UNAMID) helicopter was shot down in Darfur, Sudan.

The Mi-8 helicopter, operated by a private company and hired by UNAMID to deliver food aid, was shot down on Monday in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.

Two of the crew members died immediately. The other two died later in hospital.

Since 2003, Chad and Sudan have accused each other of inciting conflict on their common border, especially in the west Sudanese region of Darfur.

According to international estimates, over 200,000 people have been killed and around 2.5 million displaced in the ongoing conflict. More than 50 officers from the African Union have been killed in Sudan since 2004.
