MOSCOW, October 3 (RIA Novosti) - The new board of directors of Russian electricity export-import operator Inter RAO UES could be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, a source close to shareholders said on Friday.
"The list of candidates for the board of directors includes Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin. It is quite possible that he could eventually head the board," the source said, adding that the shareholders' meeting to elect the board was scheduled for October 23.
Inter RAO UES is a power supplier with over 20 generation and distribution assets in Russia and abroad, and its total generating capacity amounts to 8,000 MW.
Sechin is the chairman of the board of Russia's largest oil company, Rosneft.
The company's major shareholder is the Russian government, which owns a 42.49% stake.
