Russia creates deputy PM post for Sochi Olympics
14:47 14/10/2008
MOSCOW, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian president and prime minister agreed on Tuesday to appoint another deputy prime minister, the country's eighth, to be charged with preparations for the Sochi-2014 Olympics.
"I consider it necessary to introduce an additional deputy prime minister post - to be charged mainly with preparations for the 2014 Olympics," Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev.
"We have discussed the idea. I consider it logical," said Medvedev.
The candidacy for the post will be announced in the next few days, the presidential press service said.
Russia currently has two first deputy prime ministers and five deputy prime ministers.
