YAKUTSK, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - A young woman in Russia's East Siberian republic of Yakutsk beat a stranger to death while her friend filmed the scene on a mobile phone, investigators said on Friday.

"At around 1:00 a.m. on October 29...a young woman called the local police station [in the town of Nurba] to report that she had beaten up a man, previously unknown to her, and that he was lying on the street," said an investigator.

The woman did not identify herself. Police subsequently found a corpse bearing head injuries in the area of the town that the caller had named.

Investigators say that they managed to track down the caller relatively easily and that through "the correct choice of questioning tactics" they were able to obtain "irrefutable evidence of her involvement in the crime."

It was determined that on the evening of October 28, three friends, all female students at a Nurba college, had gone to a shop after volleyball practice to buy beer.

"As one of them was going home, a young man under the influence of alcohol and holding a bottle of beer came up to the other two," the investigator said.

A violent dispute broke out, and, "The young man fell onto the road, and the woman started to kick him," said the investigator.

"She then grabbed a heavy object and started to hit him on the head with it. As this was going on, her friend filmed the assault on her mobile phone," he went on.

After beating him senseless, the young woman finished off her beer and went to call the police. Her friend went home to bed.

The next day, the young woman who had filmed the attack entertained her fellow students with the clip of the assault. She then deleted the scene, saying she "couldn't stand to watch it anymore."

Her friend had earlier been charged with assault on a schoolteacher at a local disco.

Both women have been taken into custody. The investigation is continuing. The exact ages of the women were not specified.
