MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow hopes that U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will take a different approach to his predecessor on global issues, including relations with Russia, a deputy foreign minister said on Wednesday.
"The news of the U.S. presidential election results shows that we can all hope for fresh approaches from the U.S. on all the most complex of issues, including foreign policy and relations with Russia," Grigory Karasin said.
"We hope that the new atmosphere in our relations will bring with it constructiveness in meeting the new threats and challenges of the 21st century, and help us establish good bilateral contacts on foreign policy, economic, and finance issues," the Russian diplomat said.
Karasin said Obama's future advisers "will be able to take another look at the well-known approaches, and perhaps reconsider the stereotypes."
