YEKATERINBURG, November 6 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the Russian Urals city of Yekaterinburg said on Thursday they had detained a tramp who threatened to blow up the city's train station in order to be sent to jail, where they have "good food."
The tramp's announcement that there was a bomb in the station prompted the evacuation of passengers and employees on Wednesday. The station was cordoned off by police.
"The explosive device was not found and the cordon was removed," a police spokesman said.
During the ensuing investigation, police detained a tramp who had been released from prison less than a week before the incident.
The suspect confessed to having informed police about the "bomb" as he "wanted to go back to jail...where he was given good food," a police spokesman said.
The man is currently being held at a pretrial detention center and could face up to three years in jail.
