Russia to lift Polish vegetable ban Nov. 10
21:24 07/11/2008
MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will resume imports of Polish vegetables on November 10, ending an embargo imposed three years ago over quality concerns, the Russian agricultural regulator said on Friday.
Russia removed its ban on the import of Polish non-food plant produce in January 2008. However, Moscow had postponed approval of Polish fruit, berries and vegetables until after the signing of an EU-Russia memo on pesticide control.
The memo was signed on March 26 by the Russian regulator, Rosselkhoznadzor, and the EU Commission of healthcare and consumer protection, but imports had not until now been resumed.
