MOSCOW, December 14 (RIA Novosti) - Police have detained over 90 people for an attempt to hold an unauthorized opposition rally in central Moscow, police said on Sunday.

The detained persons tried to hold an unauthorized march of dissent and provoke clashes, the police said.

The Other Russia opposition coalition comprising writer Eduard Limonov, leader of the banned National Bolshevik Party, and Garry Kasparov, a former world chess champion who now leads the United Civil Front, earlier said it would go ahead with the protest march in Moscow on December 14 despite failing to receive permission for the rally.
