MOSCOW, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - Eighteen miners have been hospitalized with poisoning after waste materials caught fire in a Urals mine, the Russian General Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday.
The incident happened in the town of Nizhny Tagil on Thursday morning, when 146 people were underground.
"All of them were evacuated, but 18 miners suffered poisoning from the fumes," the prosecutor's office said on its website, adding that all of the 18 had been hospitalized.
The fire has been extinguished and an industrial safety investigation has been launched.
