MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Two more Russian military officials from units deployed in Chechnya have been detained in connection with the theft of more than 64 million rubles ($1.76 million), a Defense Ministry official said on Thursday.

"At this time, four military financial officials have been detained in connection with the case," the spokesman said.

The Investigation Committee of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement on Wednesday that a group of military officials dealing with financial issues at several units deployed in Chechnya embezzled the money that was intended for payments to the local and federal budget.

The statement said two of the suspects had been detained and about 60 million rubles ($1.6 million) had already been recovered

The suspects in the case face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
