Three wounded as police vehicle comes under fire in N. Caucasus

Three policemen were wounded as a UAZ police vehicle came under fire on Saturday in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, police said.

ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 28 (RIA Novosti) - Three policemen were wounded as a UAZ police vehicle came under fire on Saturday in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, police said.

"The incident occurred at about 8:25 a.m. Moscow time [5:25 GMT]. Unknown assailants inside the VAZ-2107 car that was passing by opened fire from assault rifles and grenade launchers. Three police officers were hospitalized with gunshot wounds and other injuries," a police spokesman said.

An investigation is underway.
