MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Two members of a central Russian far-right teenage gang have been charged with the murder of a Chinese national, investigators said on Thursday.

Three other youths from the Ryazan-based White Inquisitors Gang have been accused of involvement in the killing, which took place in the city in January this year. The group members are all aged 16-17.

"The aim of the gang was the promotion of the idea of the supremacy of people of the Slavic ethnic group over other ethnic groups, races and nationalities," an Investigation Committee statement said, adding that the teenagers had attempted to create "intolerable conditions" for non-Slavs, with the goal of forcing them to leave Russia.

The group is also suspected of carrying out attacks on people from the former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan.

Attacks on foreigners and ethnic minorities are a regular occurrence in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as other Russian cities. According to the Russian non-governmental organization SOVA, at least 68 people died and 262 were injured in racially motivated attacks in the country in the first eight months of 2008. Eighty-five people died in race-hate murders in 2007 in Russia.

Russia's Interior Ministry has warned that Russia could see a rise in crimes against foreigners and migrant workers amid the worsening economic situation in the country.
