Pro-Kremlin party candidate wins Olympic city mayor vote
With 100% of ballots counted, Anatoly Pakhomov is followed by opposition politician and former deputy prime minister Boris Nemtsov with 13.6% of the vote, and Communist candidate Yury Dzaganiya, 6.7%, the south Russian city's top election official said.
Six candidates were on the ballot, while several high-profile candidates were excluded over paperwork problems in the run-up to the poll.
The opposition Solidarity party which nominated Nemtsov said the election was flawed, citing discrepancies between turnout data and number of ballots and complaining of voters being put under pressure.
Election Commission chief Yury Rykov said no major violations had been reported during Sunday's vote.
The Sochi campaign came under media spotlight as the new mayor is likely to have a major say in how billions of dollars in government funding for the Olympic Games are spent.
A host of high-profile candidates had sought to take part, although many were ruled out, including former Bolshoi Theater ballerina Anastasia Volochkova and human rights ombudsman Dmitry Berdnikov.
