MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - A Moscow Region court sanctioned the arrest of a man accused of attempting to murder Isa Yamadayev, whose two brothers were gunned down in Moscow and Dubai over a seven-month period, a court spokeswoman said on Friday.

"The court on July 30 sanctioned the arrest of an individual who committed the said crime," Yelena Povarova said in the suburban Moscow town of Odintsovo.

Povarova did not reveal the name of the detained man arrested, but said he was being held for the illegal possession of arms.

The attack on Isa Yamadayev is reported to have occurred on Tuesday evening outside of Moscow.

Isa's brother Ruslan, a member of Russia's State Duma (lower house of parliament), was gunned down in Moscow in September 2008, while Sulim, the former commander of Russia's Vostok battalion in Chechnya, was allegedly shot in the underground car park of his apartment in late March in the United Arab Emirates.

In an interview earlier on Wednesday, Isa Yamadayev said an attempt on his life had been made. However, at that time Russian authorities had not confirmed whether a crime had been committed.

"An attempt on my life was made," Isa, who along with relatives still maintains that Sulim survived the shooting and is recovering in hospital, told Ekho Moskvy.

During the interview, Isa once again confirmed that Sulim was alive and "feeling fine."

In June, Russia's special envoy on international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, Anatoly Safonov, said they had not received official legal confirmation of Sulim Yamadayev's death.
