Police kill militant in Chechnya shootout
MOSCOW, August 16 (RIA Novosti) - Police killed one militant in a shootout in a town 16 km east of the Chechen capital of Grozny on Sunday night, a local police source said.
"Chechen Interior Ministry troops and officers of the Russian Federal Security Service's department in the Chechen Republic traced a group of some five militants in a forest outside Argun about midnight," the source said, adding that one militant was killed in a shootout that followed.
No casualties were reported among either the police or security officers.
The body of the killed militant is yet to be identified.
On Sunday morning, local police resumed the search for the other members of the Chechen militant group.
