SAYANO-SHUSHENSKAYA HYDROELECTRIC PLANT, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Siberian regional emergencies ministry's head of operations suffered a heart attack on Wednesday and has been flown to Moscow, a spokesman for the Federal Medical-Biological Agency said.

Maj. Gen. Daniyar Safiullin, who has been leading the search and rescue operations following Monday's accident at a hydroelectric power plant in southern Siberia, was administered resuscitation at the site and was rushed to a hospital in Sayanogorsk.

Safiullin is in critical condition and is being flown to Moscow, the spokesman said.

"The reason for [the heart attack] was excessive fatigue because he hadn't slept for a very long time," he added.

The accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya plant on the Yenisei River flooded the turbine hall early on Monday. Russia's largest station, built in 1978, was shut down, briefly leaving nearby towns and major factories without power.

According to the latest reports, at least 14 people died in the accident and more than 60 are still unaccounted for.
