MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - A fire that broke out early on Sunday at an oil pumping station in west Siberia has destroyed three oil reservoirs, a regional emergencies spokesman said.
The fire broke out when a bolt of lightning struck the station in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous area at 13:05 GMT on Saturday. One firefighter was killed in the blaze, and three are missing.
The spokesman told RIA Novosti that there is no danger of explosions at the burning reservoirs, and that firefighters are covering the flames with foam.
There are currently 115 firefighters and 28 fire engines working at the scene, along with Interior Ministry workers and medics. Four firefighters have been hospitalized with burns of varying severity.
A spokesman for state oil transit company earlier Transneft told RIA Novosti that crude supplies from the region will not be affected.
