Photos from Anatoly Garanin, Yury Abramochkin, Boris Kaufman and Yury Artamonov will be added to the RIA Novosti archive on www.visualrian.ru. The pictures will be shown not only on the website but also in exhibitions regularly organized by RIA Novosti in Russia and abroad.
“The very essence of the selection for our photo collection is not only the creation of the exhibition fund formation but first of all the preservation of history, cultural heritage and intergenerational continuity. The photograph, as both a document and a work of art, allows us to do this fully,” RIA Novosti exhibition projects head Anastasia Davydova said.
All the photographers dedicated their lives to their art. Their photos reflect the most vivid events of Russian and world history since World War II, from the meetings of heads of states to everyday news events.
RIA Novosti also plans to purchase Vladimir Vyatkin photographs whose style, according to Daydova, is not “official photography but the creation of photographic art.”
