AvtoVAZ employees rally in downtown Tolyatti

MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's largest carmaker AvtoVAZ is planning to lay off 27,600 employees, bringing its total personnel down to around 75,000, the company press service said on Thursday.

It said the company, which has cut production due to weak sales, had originally planned to terminate 36,000.
