PITTSBURGH, September 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has again stated that he may run for reelection in 2012.
Medvedev was elected in March 2008 and took office on May 7. His term expires in May 2012.
"If I work well, if everything turns out well for me and if the Russian nation trusts me - why not?" the Russian president said in response to a question after addressing a gathering at the University of Pittsburgh.
He added that he was ready to take any post in which he could be "useful to the country."
"There's no big difference. I don't like to make far-reaching plans, but I would take any post if it would be useful to the country," Medvedev said.
The Russian president faced a similar question last week at a Valdai International Discussion Club meeting, and refused to rule anything out. His predecessor, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, said at a Valdai Club event a few days earlier that the two would not be rivals for the post.
"We will reach an agreement because we are of the same blood and of the same political outlook," Putin said.
