KALININGRAD, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Nine pupils in Russia's Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad were confirmed as suffering from swine flu on Tuesday.
"Nine cases of swine flu were officially confirmed among pupils of a Kaliningrad city school," a spokesman for Russia's consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said, adding that the children had recently returned from Turkey.
Doctors described the children's infections as light and medium grave. They are being provided with medical assistance, the spokesman said.
The school where the children were studying was closed for a seven-day quarantine on September 29. Measures to stop the spread of the disease are being taken in other schools across Kaliningrad.
First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said earlier on Tuesday there were 472 swine flu cases officially registered across Russia. No casualties have been reported in the country.
