MOSCOW, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - Fifty three people were injured, eight of them seriously, when a diesel locomotive collided with a passenger train in Russia's west city of Tambov, the Russian Railways' press service said.
The passenger train was en route from Moscow to Tambov. The train was standing at the platform at the Selezni-Tambov station, when, according to eyewitnesses, a diesel locomotive smashed into it at 08:20 a.m. Moscow time (4:20 GMT).
No trains were held up as the result of the accident.
