Two policemen injured in Russia's North Caucasus shootout

Russia's North Caucasus republics, in particular Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia, have seen frequent attacks on police and officials this year despite the end of a decade-long special regime for counterterrorism operations in Chechnya a few months ago.

Two policemen were wounded in a shootout with militants in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the local police said.
"Two policemen were checking the documents of a driver in Kizylyurt district of Dagestan. The people inside the car opened fire. As a result, two policemen were wounded, one militant killed and two detained," the spokesman said.
