Three more suspects were detained on Saturday over the fire at a Perm nightclub that killed more than 100 people, investigators’ spokesman Vladimir Markin said.

Three more suspects were detained on Saturday over the fire at a Perm nightclub that killed more than 100 people, investigators' spokesman Vladimir Markin said.

"The investigating authorities have established the location of four more suspects in the criminal case. Three of them: the art director, the co-founder of Lame Horse cafe-bar, and the individual who set the fireworks that were the cause of fire, were detained. Another suspect - the premises' leaseholder - remains in hospital in serious condition. He was in the club at the time of the fire," Markin said.

The owner and the manager of the club in the Urals city had already been detained following the blaze, which started around 1 a.m. local time on Saurday.

The latest reports put the death toll at 109, but that is expected to rise with more than 120 injured, many of them critically. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev declared December 7 a day of national mourning for the victims of the tragedy.

The six are being investigated for violation of fire safety regulations resulting in the death of two or more people. The maximum sentence is seven years in jail.

The detainees have been questioned about the circumstances surrounding the fire. Markin said no decision had been made on what action would be taken against them.
