The Fourth European and Asian media forum should boost media dialogue and innovation, RIA Novosti's editor-in-chief said during the event's opening on Wednesday.
"We tried to avoid the principle of monologue at the forum. The forum should become a ground for dialogue, communication, opinion exchange and media innovation," Svetlana Mironyuk said.
She said that discussion would focus on three principal groups of issues: multimedia journalism, quality of news products, and politics and ideology in the media.
"RIA Novosti news agency is not just an information agency, it is a huge multimedia holding... RIA Novosti has become a pioneer in multimedia [journalism]," Mironyuk said.
Mironyuk said RIA Novosti would be pleased if any other post-Soviet venue hosted the next forum .
"We are ready to render any assistance needed," she said.
The fourth European and Asian media forum opened in Moscow on Wednesday, bringing together more than 150 of the world's top media managers. This year's forum was organized by state-run Russian News & Information Agency RIA Novosti.
During the two-day event, journalists from other CIS and Baltic states will be able to meet their Russian colleagues, representatives of government institutions, well-known politicians and public figures during plenary sessions, panel discussions, round tables and sectional work in various media spheres.
