Mines found next to rail track in south Russia
© RIA Novosti.Four anti-tank mines were discovered on Thursday next to a railway line in the Russian republic of North Ossetia, an emergency services spokeswoman told RIA Novosti.
The mines were found at around 11.30 a.m. (08:30 GMT) next to a stretch of rail track near the town of Mozdok, some 90 kms north of the republic's capital of Vladikavkaz.
The mines were discovered by military personnel. Sappers have been deployed to the scene.
Russian authorities have tightened security measures on railways after the recent terrorist attack on the Nevsky Express high-speed train, which killed 27 passengers and injured more than 90.
The train, which was on route from Moscow to St. Petersburg, derailed after a bomb exploded on the tracks.
