The Olympic and Paralympic flags will be well looked after during the 2014 Winter Games in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, the city's mayor said on Monday.
"The flags will be looked after by the city's administration," Anatoly Pakhomov said.
"As for security, trust me, it will be safe," he added.
The Olympic flag was handed over to Sochi's mayor on Monday in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games closing ceremony.
The flag is expected to be delivered to Sochi by March 25.
Sochi won the right to host the Games after a close race with South Korea's Pyeongchang and Austria's Salzburg.
