The car alliance Peugeot-Citroen-Mitsubishi will open a car plant in Kaluga region on April 23, an announcement published on Friday said.
The new assembly line has been working under a test regime since the beginning of March and the first car, a Peugeot 308, was produced on March 9. The plant will make mid-sized cars under the Peugeot, Citroen, and Mitsubishi brands, which will be sold on the Russian market.
The director of Russian Citroen said launching a new assembly line in Kaluga region is part of the company's strategy for becoming a global market leader.
He said Peugeot 308 fits all the requirements of the Russian scrap car disposal scheme, which Peugeot has applied to be part of.
