The second non-crew member, who was in the cockpit of the Polish presidential plane when it crashed in western Russia in April, has been identified, The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) said on Tuesday.

Earlier reports named Polish Air Force Chief Andrzej Blasik as the other non-crew member in the cockpit of the crashed plane.

The name of the second person has not yet been released.

The IAC statement said its specialists had conducted thorough investigations into the plane's flight recorders. Special comparative analysis revealed the voice of the unidentified non-crew member matched the one on the record submitted by the Polish side.

The committee said its experts are now listening to conversations recorded in the cockpit to determine who the other unknown voices belong to.

The Soviet-made Tu-154 presidential plan crashed on April 10 when it attempted to land in thick fog near Smolensk, killing all 96 people on board, including President Lech Kaczynski and other top state officials.
