Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived on Wednesday to San Francisco to start a five-day working tour to pay a visit to the United States and take part in G8 and G20 summits in Canada.
Medvedev is scheduled to meet today with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and visit the Silicon Valley - the heart of the U.S. hi-tech industry.
The Russian president will continue his visit in Washington, D.C. where he will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian and U.S. lawmakers and businessmen on June 24.
Later on, Medvedev will attend the G8 summit in Huntsville, Canada on June 25-26 and the G20 summit in Canada's largest city of Toronto on June 26-27.
The G8 summit will focus on security and social issues, and a number of initiatives are expected to be put forward. No new initiatives are expected at the G20 summit, where leaders plan to focus on how to implement the measures to overcome the global recession that has brought several countries to the verge of bankruptcy.
