Russia's gas giant Gazprom will start production at the Kirinsky gas condensate field under the Sakhalin-3 project at the end of 2011, the Sakhalin region governor said on Friday.
The project is to go into production earlier than it was previously expected to in 2014.
"Two wells will be drilled this year at the Kirinsky deposit under the project... Gazprom is planning to produce and deliver gas within the Sakhalin-3 project by the end of 2011," Alexander Khoroshavin said at a news conference.
The Kirinsky deposit, with reserves of some 100 billion cubic meters of gas, is situated within the Kirinsky block of the Sakhalin-3 project on the Sakhalin shelf.
