Belarus will consider on Wednesday the ratification of the Customs code for a Customs Union with Russia and Kazakhstan, the Russian deputy economic development minister said on Wednesday.

Belarus will consider on Wednesday the ratification of the Customs code for a Customs Union with Russia and Kazakhstan, the Russian deputy economic development minister said on Wednesday.

"According to my information, today its (Customs code) ratification will be considered in Belarus," Andrei Slepnev said.

Russia and Kazakhstan have already ratified the document.

"The situation in Belarus is, of course, different. I believe it will be finally clarified on the fifth [of July]," Slepnev added.

The Russian Customs Service said on Wednesday it is ready to begin implementing the regulations of the new code.

"The Customs Union Customs code will come into effect tomorrow," head of Russian Federal Customs Service said, adding that the transition process to the new legal framework is unlikely to be easy.

A meeting of the Eurasian Economic Community (EEC) Intergovernmental Council and Customs Union top body is due on July 5 in Kazakh capital Astana, where a range of issues surrounding the prospects for EEC development and the fully-fledged work of Customs Union will be discussed.

The Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan formally came into existence on January 1, 2010, but is unable to start working fully until disputes are resolved and the customs code comes into effect.
