Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will discuss issues of European security with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi during a visit to Italy, a Kremlin source said on Thursday.
Medvedev, who leaves for Milan on Friday, proposed drawing up a new European security pact in June 2008, and Russia published a draft of the treaty in December 2009, sending copies to heads of state and international organizations, including NATO.
Russia-NATO and Russia-EU issues will also be on the agenda.
The meeting, the third between Medvedev and Berlusconi in the last eight months, will also see a discussion of energy security, the situations in Afghanistan and the Middle East, the Iranian nuclear issue and the development of bilateral trade and economic relations.
The Russian and Italian leaders met in December 2009 in Rome and also in June this year in the Canadian city of Huntsville during the G8 summit.
