Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent U.S. President Barack Obama a birthday wish, the Kremlin press service said on Wednesday.

"It is with great warmth that I recall my June visit to the United States and the hearty welcome that you accorded me," he wrote. "The constructive, well-meaning atmosphere of our meetings left me with a very pleasant feeling."

He said the most important thing today was to carry out agreements that had been reached and undertake new bilateral projects, especially in high technology.

Medvedev stressed the importance of further humanitarian contacts and scientific exchanges, as well as "close cooperation for the benefit of our countries and nations, in the interest of ensuring international stability and security."

Obama turned 49 on Wednesday.
