Russia, Tajikistan to discuss energy, military cooperation

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will discuss prospects of bilateral trade and cooperation in energy and military-technical areas during Rahmon's visit to Russia on August 18-20.
"During the summit, the presidents are expected to continue discussions of the key issues of bilateral relations, regional and international topics," Russian president's aide Sergei Prikhidko said on Tuesday.
Prikhodko said bilateral trade grew 14.7 percent year-on-year to $328.7 million in 2009.
Russia and Tajikistan are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
Medvedev and Rahmon will take part in a summit with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and the ways to counter terrorist and narcotics threats in the region.
The four presidents met for the first time in this format in Dushanbe in July 2009.
