Ecologists, experts and politicians will gather at the International Arctic forum "Arctic: territory of dialogue" on September 22-23 in Moscow to discuss the social, economic and environmental problems of the region.
The International Arctic forum is organized by the Russian Geographical Society (RGO).
Many prominent Russian and foreign scientists, politicians, NGOs' representatives and businessmen are expected to participate.
"Climate change and anthropogenic impact have made the Arctic ecosystem highly vulnerable, putting the region's sustainable development under threat," Sergei Shoigu, President of the Russian geographical Society and Russia's Emergencies Minister said in a statement on the RGO web site.
"The International Arctic Forum in Moscow will encourage a discussion of the Arctic issues inside the country, and will give us an opportunity to share the Russian experts' vision of the Arctic's future," he went on.
