The 14th test of Russia's troubled Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile is scheduled for October 29, a source in the test flight commission said on Tuesday.

A successful test launch of the missile was held on October 7 from the Dmitry Donskoy submarine in the White Sea. The warhead hit its target on the Kura test range in Russia's Far East Kamchatka region.

Prior to this, Bulava test launches were put on hold after a failed launch on December 9, 2009, which was caused by a defective engine nozzle.

The Bulava (SS-NX-30), a three-stage liquid and solid-propellant submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), has officially suffered seven failures in 13 tests.

However, some analysts say that in reality the number of failures is considerably higher, with only two of Bulava's 13 test launches being entirely successful.

A further launch of the missile is scheduled to take place before the end of the year, the source said.
