Platon Lebedev said on Friday that investigators involved in bringing new charges against him and his former business partner, ex-Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky, had fabricated the evidence.

Lebedev accused the head of the investigation team, Salavat Karimov, of "falsifying the evidence and bringing charges...by illegal means."

The former businessman also said the oil embezzlement and money laundering charges against them were "nonsense."

"All this nonsense they are saying shows they have never been at the oil extraction sites and are unaware of the procession chain of oil production," Lebedev said.

Everybody knows that domestic and export oil prices can not be compared, Lebedev said, commenting on the allegations that Yukos bought oil from its subsidiaries for domestic prices.

"It is like accusing Russia's Tambov region's residents of buying food for Russian rather than Rotterdam prices," Lebedev said.

Last week, prosecutors demanded an additional six-year sentence for Khodorkovsky and Lebedev on charges of stealing over 200 million tons of oil from a Yukos subsidiary between 1998 and 2003.

The two are already serving eight years for fraud and tax evasion.
