Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's spokesman denied on Friday South Korean media reports that the youngest daughter of the Russian premier is going to marry a son of a South Korean diplomat.
"A South Korean newspaper's report about the supposed marriage of Vladimir Putin's daughter is false," Dmitry Peskov said.
South Korea's JoongAng Ilbo reported on Friday, citing an anonymous source, that 23-year-old Yekaterina Putina is going to marry the son of a retired South Korean admiral who worked as a military attache at the South Korean Embassy in Moscow in late 1990s.
According to the source, Putina met her 25-year-old Korean fiancee in July 1997 at a dance party at an international school in Russia. When the man left Russia with his father, the two stayed in touch and they are currently studying together in the United States.
Putin reportedly opposed the couple's marriage at first, but later gave his consent. The paper also reported that Putina wanted to live and work in South Korea after the wedding.
