Officials have denied earlier reports that the bodies of all twelve crew on board the Russian Air Force Antonov An-22 transport aircraft that crashed in central Russia on Tuesday night have been found.

A source in the Defense Ministry said earlier on Wednesday that the bodies had been found.

Russia's Investigative Committee confirmed all 12 crewmembers on board were killed.

Search crews have discovered parts of the aircraft's fuselage, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

The An-22 was en route to an airport in the Tver Region when it disappeared from radar screens at 21:30 Moscow time [18:30 GMT]. The site of the crash was located near the village of Krasny Oktyabr in the Tula region five hours later.

Officials said the cause of the crash could only be established after the flight recorders were recovered.
