Police detains Moscow radio correspondent covering arrests of opposition leaders

Moscow Ekho Moskvy FM station correspondent Alexei Pozdnyakov was detained near a pretrial detention center on Monday when reporting about single-person pickets in support of arrested Russian key opposition figures, the radio said.

Moscow Ekho Moskvy FM station correspondent Alexei Pozdnyakov was  detained near a pretrial detention center on Monday when reporting about single-person pickets in support of arrested Russian key opposition figures, the radio said.

Boris Nemtsov and Ilya Yashin of the Solidarity movement, Konstantin Kosyakin of the Leftist Front and Eduard Limonov, leader of the Another Russia opposition party, were arrested over disobedience to police officers during December 31 rallies at Moscow's central Triumfalnaya Square.

Police have not so far explained why the Ekho Moskvy correspondent was detained.

Pozdnyakov said that another 15 persons were caught along with him.
