Reports that a resident of Russia's southern Stavropol region was responsible for the deadly January 24 blast at a Moscow airport are false, a police source told RIA Novosti on Friday.

Reports that a resident of Russia's southern Stavropol region was responsible for the deadly January 24 blast at a Moscow airport are false, a police source told RIA Novosti on Friday.

"Video footage from one of the cameras at Domodedovo's arrivals hall... shows clearly that it was another person," the source said.

Russia's Kommersant newspaper quoted on Thursday a police source as saying a Stavropol region resident, identified only as Razdobudko, was suspected of being involved in the attack, which killed 35 people and seriously injured over a hundred.

The source said Razdobudko could have been one of the organizers or even the perpetrator of the blast. He was reported to be a member of the Nogai Jamaat terrorist group, which was broken up in October, 2010.

No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, which comes less than 12 months after two female suicide bombers from the volatile North Caucasus struck the Moscow subway in a twin suicide bombing, killing 39 people.
