Five people have been found dead after a fire in a private house in Ufa, the capital of the southwest Russian republic of Bashkiria, a local emergencies spokesperson said on Sunday.
The fire occurred overnight in the one-storey house. "The body fragments of five people have been discovered," the spokesperson said, adding that the house owner is among the victims.
The cause of the fire is being established. Rescuers blame the fire on careless smoking and alcohol abuse.
