Police in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia detained on Tuesday two suspected members of a militant group that organized a deadly terrorist attack in the southern Russian city of Vladikavkaz in September 2010, a local security service spokesman said.
Seventeen people were killed and more than 200 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a car near the city's central market on September 9 last year.
Terrorist attacks targeting security forces and officials are common in Russia's North Caucasus republics, particularly in Ingushetia, Dagestan and Chechnya. Vladikavkaz is the capital of the Republic of North Ossetia which borders Chechnya and Ingushetia.
Mikail Khashagulgov and Magomed Daurbekov are believed to be two of the five people earlier established as possible organizers of the September attack.
The Russian government has vowed to clamp down on militant groups operating in the North Caucasus while stepping up efforts to boost the local economies.
