The Moscow City Court has returned to the lawyers of jailed Russian ex-tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his business partner Platon Lebedev an appeal against a court decision to close an outdated case on the alleged theft of shares from the Eastern Oil Company, a court spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Khodorkovsky's lawyers Vadim Klyuvgant, Yelena Levina and Natalia Terekhova, as well as Lebedevv's lawyers Konstantin Rivkin, Yelena Liptser and Alexei Mitoshnichenko filed the appeal on June 14.
However, they attached documents incorrectly filled out that failed to prove that they were handling the cases, court spokeswoman Anna Usacheva said, adding that under Russian law, this is one of the necessary conditions to open this type of an appeal.
"After the deficiencies hampering the court from considering the appeal are eradicated, Khodorkovsky and Lebedev's lawyers may once again file to the Moscow City Court," Usacheva said.
