Volga Nizhny Novgorod FC were scheduled to fly to their September 11 clash with Samuel Eto’o’s Anzhi on the plane that crashed on Wednesday in central Russia, a club official said.
“Yes, we were due to fly on that plane,” club press attaché Sergei Koznov told Sport Express.
“We’ve flown on Yaks before, including on that very same plane.”
Anzhi are based in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.
