President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday Russia would not accept interference in its internal affairs.

President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday Russia would not accept interference in its internal affairs.

“The authorities will not allow provocateurs and extremists to pull citizens into adventurism and will not accept outside interference,” Medvedev said during his final annual state-of-the-nation address before he steps down as president.

Medvedev was speaking two days before tens of thousands of people are expected to protest in central Moscow against alleged vote fraud at the December 4 parliamentary polls. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of encouraging the protests.

Medvedev, who has stated that allegations of vote fraud need to be investigated, said on Thursday that he was “ready” to listen to criticism of the way the polls were conducted.
